  • Automattic Grand Meetup Flash Talk 2016

Every year, at the Grand Meetup, each Automattician is required to give a presentation that is a maximum of 4 minutes long and the topic can be over anything.

This year, I decided to give a short presentation over our family trip to Niagara Falls. But, since I only had 4 minutes, I was only able to cover Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds.

This year I pre-recorded my talk to avoid issues with embedded videos. I made one mistake in the video where I mentioned Ontario Falls instead of Bridal Veil Falls.

All in all, it wasn’t too bad.

  • Tattoos at Whistler

Yesterday and Today, a group of Automatticians went to Whistler Tattoo Company for the annual Automattic Grand Meetup tattoo trip. Here are a few of the pictures that I took.

  • Mountains at Whistler

I’m not quite sure which mountain this actually is, Whistler or Blackcomb, since they’re right beside each other. I got this picture yesterday from outside Whistler Tattoo Company.

  • Pictures from Project Days at Automattic Grand Meetup

As we head into activity days, and I go off to get my tattoo, I thought this was a good time to share pictures that I’ve taken the past two days during our project days.

The pictures were taken at different times. Some during the WordPress.com townhall, some during some VR play, and some during flash talks.

  • Pictures from Team Day and Town Hall

The second day of Grand Meetup this year was “team day”, where we were given time to work with our team/division.

In the evening, we had a town hall. And as the town hall went on, the crowd started to thin out. I held in until the second break (about 5 hours), and called it a night.

  • Heading to Whistler

The third day of the trip was our travel day from Bowen Island to Whistler Village. We spent the morning doing a bit of work, then took the ferry to meet up with some Automatticians from Seattle on their way to Whistler.

One of the most interesting parts of the day, besides the obvious catching up with ~500 coworkers, was when Michael Arestad, Stephane Daury, and Matt Mullenweg pulled up in their muddy Jeeps after driving almost coast-to-coast across Canada.
