   Hi Eric, congratulations on your new job! You’re working on O2? Wow! Since it’s been over a year since Beau said it’d be released in a month, I kind of thought O2 had fallen by the wayside. Glad to hear that O2 is still out there. Is there any release timetable at this point? TY & best wishes!

      First, thanks a lot! 🙂

      I am relatively new to the team and am still getting my bearings. So, I’m not aware with a release timetable. That being said, I know I have seen a few discussions about getting it out there, so I know that it’s something we’re still working towards.

      You seem interested in O2? What is your use case, if you don’t mind me asking?

         Great Eric! I’ve setup a few P2 sites and also used some of the P2 child themes or forks. They all are – with no disrespect to the generous developers who have contributed them – a little bit “clunky” for me, which is why Beau’s presentation at WCSF last year was so exciting. Along the months of waiting for O2, WooThemes released their Houston child theme for P2 and I really love it. They’ve taken the power of P2 and presented it in a fashion seems a bit more functional and aestheticized.

         As for use, I’m using Houston I think in “typical” fashion, the only difference being that we’re not doing business communication, but arts interactions. I like P2 / Houston / O2 as a lite / easy / fast way to post anything from a Tweet to a Full Blog Post to anything in-between. I personally like being on the backend (and love the Jetpack Markdown module!!) but I think for most people being on the frontend is a less confusing & more satisfying experience. A good example is the “Re/act” site that a small group of artists around the globe and I have been using since late last year:

            Hello again Vanessa,

            As you may or may not be aware, Automattic is in the middle of our annual Grand Meetup. The question about when O2 would be released publicly. While we don’t have any hard dates at this point, the idea of released O2 on WordPress.com seemed hopeful.

            I’ll try to follow back with more information at some point. And I want to thank you for using P2!
